Adi Visser – A Cam Operator and Steadycam/Trinity Operator
Project: The Gryphon (Amazon Prime, Season 01, 6 episodes, Fantasy)

A fantasy series based on best-selling author Wolfgang Hohlbein’s The Gryphon. The series made by Wiedeman&Berg Television, which produces Netflix hit Dark, and won an oscar for „The life of others“, in cooperation with DogHaus Film for Amazon Studios.

On their way to adulthood, the three outsiders Mark, Memo and Becky come into contact with a fantastic world called the Black Tower. There, the Griffin, a world-devouring monster, has been mercilessly plundering and subjugating all living creatures for centuries. And the three friends, of all people, seem destined to end this reign of terror.
Showrunners Erol Yesilkaya (writer) and Sebastian Marka (director) have adapted the book into six episodes. Executive producers are Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, and André Zoch. Shot in Studio Babelsberg (Berlin) and on location in germany and tenerife, spain.

The show ,the Gryphon, was the first opportunity for me to work together with Adi as my Operator. I really enjoyed our collaboration a lot. Besides being a very nice guy, Adi always was a great support for me with his energy and speed and also his eye for compositions and his skills. We used a lot of different telescope-cranes with several stabilized heads in different countries and conditions and with changing grip-crews.

Adi always helped me to coordinate, communicate and execute and compose the shots , while eeing fast and precise. I enjoyed his creative input and ideas and i really loved his Trinity work. We did several scenes with very long sequences. And on a tv show…you always have a lot of time pressure. Adi helped me to develop some amazing traveling shots, using the full potential of the trinity. It was a pleasure to work together and i really hope we can team up again on another show or movie in the future.

To Whom it May Concern:
l recently had the pleasure of working wilh Adi Visser on a production for Warner Brothers. I spent live weeks shooting with him in Cape Town and I relied every day on Adi’s excellent eye for composition, and his skills with the Steadicam.

He helped us to complete the extremely ambitious production on schedule and with quality that surpassed the studio’s expectations.. I never had to be concerned with any challenge I presented to him.

I would wholeheartedly recommend him as an excellent Camera Operator to any of my colleagues who would be visiting South Africa, and of course, to any productions originating from there, I now consider him it valuable member of my worldwide team.
Yours truly

To whom it may concern:

I recently shot a feature film ( The Good Lie) in SA for Warner Bros. Adi was the Steadycam and camera operator.

Adi did an amazing job.
The film is better because of him. He is creative and a nice person on top of it. If you ever have the chance to shoot in South Africa., Adi is the person you want on your crew.

To whom it may concern:
I have had the pleasure of working with Adi on numerous projects, ‘Black Butterflies’, ‘De Heineken Ontvoering’, ‘Doomsday’ 2nd Unit and ‘No1 Ladies Detective Agency’ amongst others.

He has always had a focused and dedicated approach to the work he does and has been an asset on set in every case. I have often admired Adi’s selfless commitment to the films he does, his positive contribution allows people around the camera to bring their best to the film.

Adi loves films. it’s easy to see this. Often in the fragmented stage of shooting a film its not easy to stay aware of the big picture, Adi enjoys keeping track of the whole drama, how things fit, what story are we telling. As a DOP to have an operator concerned about the storytelling, whether its doing Steadycam or conventional operating is an incredibly useful collaboration. I have enjoyed collaborating with Adi in the past and hopefully will be able to do so again.
